The increasing complexity of pharmaceutical wastewater treatment processes has created a strong demand for intelligent and adaptive control systems capable of ensuring operational efficiency, environmental compliance, and treatment reliability. This study presents a cyber-physical system (CPS) design for intelligent process control in pharmaceutical wastewater treatment facilities. The proposed framework integrates physical treatment infrastructure with digital monitoring, communication, and computational technologies to enable real-time process supervision, automated decision-making, and adaptive operational control. The cyber-physical architecture combines distributed sensors, programmable control units, industrial communication networks, and cloud-based analytics to continuously monitor critical treatment parameters, including pH, dissolved oxygen, chemical oxygen demand, flow rate, temperature, and contaminant concentration. Advanced control algorithms and predictive analytics were incorporated to optimize treatment performance and dynamically respond to variations in influent wastewater characteristics. Experimental and simulation analyses demonstrated that the CPS-based control framework significantly improved process stability, pollutant removal efficiency, and energy utilization compared to conventional manual and semi-automated treatment systems. The intelligent monitoring infrastructure also enabled rapid fault detection, predictive maintenance, and automated operational adjustments to minimize treatment disruptions and improve system reliability. Comparative evaluation indicated enhanced treatment consistency, reduced operational costs, and improved environmental compliance through continuous real-time optimization and integrated digital control. Furthermore, the implementation of cyber-physical technologies strengthened data transparency, operational responsiveness, and resource management within pharmaceutical wastewater treatment operations.
